I see what you mean! They are very difficult at best to tell apart. How exactly does one get a new cultivar designation when they are so close if not the same as eachother? Actually I should ask what the differences in each cultivar is supposed to be and where can this "official information" be found? Does the ICPS have the data on its site as to the specifics of each cultivar? I know some times its just slight differences in flowers or leaves but I just don't see it. I am by no means a plant "proffesional" at telling cultivars apart so it may just be my lack of knowledge. I am very curious now though!

Well, the "FTS Crimson Sawtooth" isn't an officially registered cultivar. 'Bohemian Garnet' has been registered officially since 2007 and 'Scarlet Bristle' was just registered last month. I think if you were to watch all three of these clones throughout the growing season, you'll notice differences and I suppose that those differences are enough to warrant separate names, though I'm not sure that they should all be registered as official cultivars. I don't have any intentions of registering "FTS Crimson Sawtooth", but I believe that it is sufficiently different enough from the other two in certain growth characteristics that it could be registered. Though, having three red sawtooth clones with very similar growth characteristics all registered as official cultivars seems like a bit of an overkill. A new cultivar designation is obtained through the ICPS by filling out the proper paperwork with a description of the defining characteristics of the clone and submitting it for approval. The description must be published in a "widely circulated journal". All of the "official information" is maintained by the ICPS in the case of registered cultivars. You can find the list of Dionaea cultivars here: www.carnivorousplants.org/cultivars/names.php?name=DionaeaI've been trying to keep up with the officially registered cultivars myself here: www.flytrapcare.com/venus-fly-trap-cultivated-variety-list.htmlI also plan to _slowly_ start filling in a list of unofficial cultivars here: www.flytrapcare.com/unregistered-cultivar-list.html
