Newer photo...trap to left is 1.25 inches corner to corner (straight not following curve of trap)....and I got two baby plants off this VFT earlier....see photo of 26Mar10 showing main growth point and the two "baby" growth points I separated...one is at the 6 o'clock position and one at 10 o'clock with main growth point at 3 o'clock. Plant currently under four foot flourescent lights as it still goes below freezing outside iat night...(and I'd only have to forget to bring it in once and its dead).

Yes but maybe the light above it explains why its green? It's just peat and perlite...not a complex chemical-based growth medium... ;D.
You may be right that a slightly peat-heavy mix is better...but i stress the might........I have heard 5 parts peat,3 parts sand, 2 parts perlite can work better then 50/50 peat/perlite so am trying that out....but there are lots of medium "recipes" and very little to show one is better then the standard 50/50 peat/perlite mix.
