Hey Guys!
I've never done a dormancy before. I have about 5 or 6 plants, some regular ones, 1 big mouth, 1 b52, 1 red dragon.
So when's the time to start dormancy and for how long should I do it for? I always keep the plants inside, I'm in Toronto.
I have sundews too, do they need dormancy??
Thanks in advance!!!
Michael

The VFT's can stay outside, mine love the cold weather until the frost. Put them in moist LFS with some No-damp in the fridge from November till March and then start them indoors. Tell us what dews you have. Only the temperate ones need cold dormancy.

Hi There is a great dormancy for Venus Flytrap here www.flytrapcare.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=180Sundew native to Canada and Europe also need dormancy- that is to say a COLD dormancy. Most give sundews dormancy in their outdoor bogs,. It is necessary to mulch them rather deeply with pine needles if they are to survive the winter. I have never tried to do dormancy for them in the fridge, but it may be some here have. Some have done dormancy for Venus flytrap on a cold windsill or in a cold basement. Some sundew from Australia require a DRY dormancy as part of the year they live in bog conditions, and part of the year it is very dry. This is a different thing altogether.

I can vouche for this method. It was my first dormancy as well and I followed rug's guide exactly with 100% success rate as well.
I will most likely do this for alot of my upcoming dormancy needs this winter as well.

I've had CP's outside for one winter and the temperate dews didn't mind being frozen solid above the ground at all.
