Hi everyone! I have my VFT in a plastic humidity dome and recently (more so since I fed it crickets the other day) I have been seeing tiny brown and black ants crawling all over it and the soil. Will these eat my VFT? Also it is not nice to have these crawling all over my house - what is a VFT friendly way to kill these pests completely? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! It is so gross to see the ants crawling on my kitchen counters/couches/windowsills etc and they seem to gather around the VFT and my other plants so I think my VFT and other houseplants are the source. Thanks so much!

Well getting a pingula might "help" take care of some of them if they stray onto it. But a spray like safers endall might help. I would put out some ant baits as well to help take care of that. I had the same tiny ants as well. There is a liquid in a tiny bottle that worked well by putting drops of in around where they are coming in at.

You might also consider a Nepenthes to take care of the ants, for you. Others have reported that Nepenthes in their greenhouses have completely eradicated the ant nests in there, while at the same time filling their Nep pitchers with those nectar seeking ants. And ants make good Nep food too. You could try one of the easier beginner Nepenthes, and see how you do with them. Perhaps a ventricosa, ventrata, sanguinea or even a truncata, are easy forgiving Neps for beginners.
