and a small blog breaking it down into its parts: hawkdog.net/wordpress/archives/761I'm going to try something like this in my greenhouse using two terracotta pots silicone together and sealed at the bottom. If anything it should help to keep my humidity up... not that that's really a problem... lol Edit- fixed the link for ya \m/abs

Very nice setup. Works great for Lepanthes and Telipogons.... I just wonder were you would be able to buy one of those Lexan Tubes.... I suppose you could use a bell jar from Loblaws they have large ones for 20 bucks..... hmmm might be a project for next year.

Those things look like they'd also be great for keeping brains in.

I have explored the possibility of making one of these a while back when people were discussing jars for terraria before. The sad part is getting one of those tubes. But yeah...this seems to be perfect for orchids and perfect for the living room.

I used two 6" terracotta pots and siliconed them together, and sealed the bottom hole... stuck some moss to the outside and put it in the greenhouse... so far, so good. Sure keeps the humidity up in the greenhouse. Normally around this time of year the cool weather prevents a lot of evaporation? Hopefully it wont be too damp now.
Regardless, i'll post pics if things go well, once the moss takes and starts to grow.

yeah man!! definitely!! Please keep me posted. I really want to do this myself as well. BTW....I know for sure that moss grows on terracotta pots. I remember FLytrap once showed a pic of an N. rajah with an N. inermis in the background in a terracotta pot that was covered in moss. So yeah...it does happen. And considering with this project where we have to actually fill it with water, that makes it even more hospitable for the moss.

woah! what a find, they look absolutely amazing.
I'm interested how effective those lights would be for the plants we grow. I'm thinking moss would be a lot lenient on lighting then a sundew.
I also like his magnet idea for his fans, I'm about to add some fans that turn on every once in a while in my lowland tank since I see fungus on parts of the soil and some dead leaves and whatnot. I was about to ducktape it on, but this would be much cooler.
