Hey everyone, I want to buy some sarr purpurea seeds, but I'm still not exactly sure what to do. My questions are:
how big are the seeds?
Can I put them in a pot with a bag on it in the fridge over the winter and still use that pot of soil for germnation?
Any other hints would be great. Thanks, Devon Blomquist

The seeds are big enough to pick up easily with a forceps-2 mm across. Put them in a little ziplock baggie with enough distilled water to keep them wet. Put in the veggie part of the fridge for over 2 months. Then sow in 1:1 peat perlite. Keep warm, bright and humid and wait fpr the seeds. Or you could use 250 ppm GA3 for 24 hours to break dormancy instead of the fridge. (I do both.)

ok, thankyou. I will be buying some "rare", or what I think rare sarracenia seeds off ebay this fall... If I sow the seeds just before fall, and do the cold strat in the summer, will they still sprout well?

Devon, if you're buying the seeds from the link on pets topic, they're S. Rosea, which is now a new species of sarrs that look like purpurea but have some differences! Unless the vendor says they're purpurea.

oh, welll I guess I will be buying S. Rodea then, not a purp! That's what I was planning on buying along with some others. Anything that looks like a purp and stays the same size is fine for me!
