HI- I have noticed in pictures on this site that some of you are growing small Sarracenas in saucers and small bowls outside of a terrarium. I have two (S flava and S Judith Hindle) in a small plastic tray placed on a plant stand in my east window. I let the water (rainwater) level vary, sometimes they sit in water, sometimes i let the tray dry out for a couple of days, but the soil is never dry. Since I have put it there middle of March, I find I am slowly loosing two pitchers on flava and one on Judith Hindle. How well do you find it works for you to grow them like this?

I've grown them in my house and they don't really care about humidity but they do like wet soil. You may be just losing some old leaves. They will do much better outside as long as you protect them on frost nights.

You should place them outside, erect Sarracenia enjoy full sun, but if it gets too cold during nighttime you should bring them in, then put them outside the following morning. You'll get much more robust and healthier plants. Good luck!

keep in mind that as sarrs grow its not uncommon to see pitchers brown off and switching them from one place to another can also bring it on. I have alot of cleaning ahead of me it should be fun lol Sib
