I figured it was getting close to that time the past few days, but yesterday I went out to check on something and thought to take a peek at my outdoor plants. several days ago it was still looking pretty dull, but when I checked it out yesterday there were lots of exciting signs!!
My temperate Pings are popping open from their artichokey little gemmae and my D.filiformis will be in eating mode within a couple weeks as they too are fully cracked open from their ugly little hibernaculae
No pics yet as these things aren't terribly interesting to see just yet (tho I can take a few if anyone is really curious) but it has begun!!
I figure we can use this as a general observation thread, not limited to any one person.
Anyone else have any observations to report yet??

I'm just about to take my sarrs outside from the basement window where they have been hibernating and will be marking out a new bog today. I hope to document it in photos.

It's going to be below freezing at night for at least a week in Toronto, so I'm going to wait to peak at them.

Dunno what the nightime lows are supposed to be here- probably similar- but I didn't mulch my bog again this winter, so I didn't have to disturb anything to check it out. Failure to mulch last year killed off anything that would have a problem, the stuff I have out there is bullet-proof

Documenting outdoor bogs via photos sounds like a great idea!! So please post pics; I'm sure they will serve as inspiration to others that don't have access to outdoor garden space!! ;D

*smacks self in head*
Khoas- I always forget about you being on the opposite side of the seasons- when you posted Sarr pics I thought "they shouldn't be in active growth at this time of year, must be old pics"
I feel dumb. Too cold and rain/snowy to take pics today, will try as soon as this LOUSY weather ends

It is mid autumn here and we still have not had any good rain, just 5mm to 10mm about once a week for last month.

Well we had a record rain this week and today a huge blizzard. On the good side we just bought a house so I will have a nice home for all of us (including all the plants).

My bog is still buried under pine needles. Seems like every time I get a chance to remove them, the weather doesn't co-operate. Oh well, maybe I'll get it done by October

Okay here's pics taken 10 minutes ago Overview (the next 2 pics were taken in the lower right of this one) D.filiformis ssp. filiformis waking up YAY temperate Pinguicula popping open, I'll have to wait for flowers to be sure if I still have 2 species or just a few of one...
