it isn't just a bent over stalk that's accidentally buried?

It definately doesn't look like a flower stalk. When u look closely, the top part of the loop has what looks to be ridges.

to me, it looks like some kind of deformed leaf, probably due to being in lousy conditions in the store for a bit. You'll just have to wait and see what it does- at any rate it's nothing to worry about just yet

When I got it from the store, it was VERY healthy as they had jus recieved their shipments. I couldn't let a good thing go to waste so I decided to save this guy. I've had it for about a month or two and its been taking off ever since and now there seems to be 2 plants. My guess that it jus came out of TC not too long ago.
My hypothesis would be that maybe its trying to seperate itself from the other plant thats comming out of it. Just my two cents ive never seen anything like it before. I was curious that i even took a look at it and uncovered a little bit of the soil and there seems to be no trap or flower at the end of it but instead it seems as if its twisting and going into the soil.

Looks to me like a trap that's growing back into the soil.

Hey guys.. turns out your right flytrap. I checked it out today and there appears to be a trap growing into the soil. However, this leads me to another concern. As I took a closer look, i noticed small tiny bugs moving around. Perhaps the plant decided to grow traps into the soil thinking it would be able to eliminate them. The bugs seem to have nibbled on the new growth and im quite worried of this spreading to the rest of my collection. I'm looking into either dry ice or a neem type mixture to eliminate them. Any suggestions? Top and side view.

Little bugs could be just benign ones that live in the soil or maybe thrips. Can you see or describe the bugs? # of legs, colours, pictures? Neem should help although the VFT's might be set back a bit by the spray.

Hi there markym4rk, I agree with Lloyd. Are you able to actually see the little bugs?? What color/shape are they?? Do they jump and disappear as soon as you try to touch them?? Do you see any sign of "cobwebs" on your VFT?? First things first though, be sure to quartine your potentially infected plant away from others in your collection until the little buggers can be correctly identified!!

Um, what you COULD do, not saying you should, is take the whole plant and put it underwater for a day or two, in distilled water. vft's can live for several months under water, because in their natural conditions, there are always floods that come in and cover the plants in water for months. This will probably get rid of your bugs for now, but you must get new potting media, because the sphagnum probably has many bugs left in it. or, you could soak the sphagnum along with the vft. your choice!

I did repot it when i first got it and noticed these little buggers. Maybe just 1 or 2, but now theres like a whole family. I think they might be thrips. I've seen red ones and black ones and the inmature ones that look like dust so sorta grey. I tried to manually remove them by hand/foreceps but they are so tiny its hard to pick them up. I'm pretty sure they have 4 legs. I'm thinking of doing what petmantis has told me. Think this will eliminate ALL of them?

Will this method set my VFT back?

Actually, if you see red, black and grey "dust-like" bugs, that sounds more like 2-spotted spider mites to me!!
