Wayne, I like to give my vft's 4 months of dormancy. I put them in dormancy at the end of October. This year I left them outside until about mid November. I plan to take them out of dormancy at the beginning of March.

Some of my plants are already showing lots of growth. Most of them are already showing a little growth. You might want to get them out now. For sure within the next couple of weeks.

Way too early for Newfoundland. I'm going to wait until early April. Even then I'll have to cover them up for late frosts.

I'm going to start giving mine more light and heat in March. I won't be able to leave them outside until some days in April, but it probably won't be until sometime in May, until I can feel safer about leaving them outside overnight.

well it seems i might have been a little too anxious for my plants to come out of dormancy, i took them out a week ago, and they won't see my balcony 'til, like the others say, come mid April to early May. Montreal is a micro-climate all on it's own, it's even snowed on my birthday in the past, and it's on the 6th of May. Maybe i should have waited a 'little' longer to wake them from their slumber at the back of my fridge... at least i have something new to look at though!

i have the bad habit of taking my cp's out of dormancy on st Valentines day, then i keep them either in my terrarium or on a sunny windowsill until May. the problem this year is that my s. flava has woken up enough to start putting up a flower stalk that is a cm tall as of today, i should have kept it in the fridge for a longer time muscipula, you should wait until the weather gets warmer, maybe pot them up a month before all the snow is gone and it is sort of warm outside, then keep them indoors on a bright windowsill....just my guess.

Seems to me you're giving up a few good weeks or a couple of months of decent growing time by not taking them out now. Nearly all of my plants the last two years have started growing around Valentine's Day. I keep them in a sunny window until the chance of freeze is gone in April and then I move them outside until October.
Of course if you have too many to put in a sunny window, I guess you have no choice but to leave them in dormancy wherever you have them.
