Hi Guys,
Can anyone advise me what is the best sterilization technique for VFT seeds? It's for TC. Thanks! ;D

I use 1:10 bleach with tween 20, 70% isopropranol and hydrogen peroxide. I put the seeds in a little container. I add the solution to the seeds for about 1 minute. Then I suck it up with a syringe. I alternate solutions with sterile distilled water the same way. I find a big problem is that when VFT's germinate the seed coat opens and often releases mould into the jar. This happens usually about 2-3 weeks after plating so I assume it means there is contamination inside the seed coat. So you could also GENTLY remove the seed coats. Then soak the seeds in a 4% PPM solution (0.4 cc in 10cc sterile distilled water with full strength MS) for four hours. www.world-of-carnivores.com/sterilization.html

VFT seeds are too small for me to remove the coats. I might just try moving them to a new media when that happens. How about VFT leaf pullings?

You can gently squish the seeds with fine forceps. Or just squish them a bit and the seedcoat comes off. Try the above techniques with explants, too; such as VFT leaves. The link I posted above is really full of helpful information.
