So I had a very vibrant VFT (typical I think...)
And one day it caught what I thought was one of those bee/wasp looking flies (when I held it up to the sun).
Later the trap started to open but it was taking FOREVER... a week later it still had only opened a crack and I couldn't take it anymore... I took a toothpick to try and pry the trap open except it had like a slime that had hardened and it was actually REALLY REALLY tough to break... Turns out it had caught a wasp but still... what would cause the trap to become so sticky it wouldn't open?
Its now like a month later and the trap is fine... only 80% open but still green and still has the wasp there. I will post pics later today but has anyone else seen a trap get that sticky from a bug or something?

Hi Sherkas... welcome to OCPS!
Yes... actually.. i have seen this happen. A couple weeks back, one of my VFT (Big Mouth) had cought a house fly and had the exact same hardened sticky slime. Although in my case i just left it the way it was. Now about a month later, the trap is still half open just the way i left it and never fullly opened. Not sure why that is but this is the first time thats ever happened.

I too had this happen. Like Mark, I just left it and it still hasn't opened. I can see the sticky stuff holding the trap partially closed.
