A couple of people contacted me about joining on a group order to Borneo Exotics www.borneoexotics.com/aspx/Default.aspx .They've done this in the past (2001) at which time I was not a participant...and overall, they were all quite pleased. All of these people live in and around the Vancouver region. They're thinking of doing another group order. Borneo Exotics min. order is us$300 plus shipping. I'll email this to the other participants so they're aware of my posting this thought on the OCPS forum. If you're interested in participating, place your thoughts below.

It could be very interesting, I would be ready to be in it, with a additionnal amount for my part to be post in eastern Canada, if someone is ready to repack the whole thing of course.

Although I still plan to go ahead with the malasian tropicals order this summer, I see 3 on BE list that I wouldn't mind snagging! Sib

Last Call for anyone interested in this Group order.
I will be shipping out my order to Robert Cantley on Friday March 31, 2006. The logistics of repackaging and re-shipping out to other participants in Canada will have to be sorted out. PM me if you're interested or just post it here. Cantley writes: " ... There is one problem, Canada requires an additional declaration on the Phytosanitary Cert that necessitates an expensive visit and inspection from the Department of Agriculture here. For that reason you may have to wait until we have other wholesale shipments to send to Canada. We expect one to be shipped about mid April so if your order is placed in time we may be able to send it at the same time.
You are correct, variants of a species count as one species for the purposes of CITES permits. " For what it's worth, I've never been "ripped off" by Borneo Exotics, but I have been by other outfits... I had also posted a requested on other CP forums (UK and Singapore) requesting folks to share their experiences of CP orders from Malesiana (MT) and Borneo (BE). Everyone had a good experience with either supplier ...one fellow mentioned that in most cases the MT plants were very well packed, and some of their plants were larger than BE's. In terms of shipping, BE's response time was much better than MT's. MT's average was about two months, and BE's was about 3 weeks. One other interesting note was that a few people indicated that their most negative experiences occurred with two CP growers out here on the westcoast - one that use to sell on eBay and another one in the Vancouver municipality of Richmond. I guess it must be the bad air in lotus land that does it to them

I've no idea. BE will calculate it after I send in my order...so after he reviews my list he will email me the shipping costs. Robert Cantley wrote: " > Freight is by DHL and costs are dependent upon volume. We will need > to have your order first to get an idea of volume so we can quote for freight. "

I'm simple there are only 3 that I want: N. bicalcarata 0022 Brunei, red flush s $6 N. bicalcarata x [ampullaria x gracilis] 0208 spotted s $6 N. x trichocarpa 0164 Brunei, assorted clones S $6
The problem I find when searching through their catalouge is that there are no pictures to represent the actual clones they are selling. They reffer to what they have sold them as in the past, but that does little to help me (atleast) pick.
Keep me up dated. Thanks, Sib

I feel that many of you would like to join in a group order, but are leary to participate because I am a stranger. I don't blame you... I'd feel the same way.
In anycase, I'll place the above requests as part of my own order and grow them here on the island ...it's not adding a lot of plants to the overall order anyways. So when the opportunity arises when you visit the west coast, you can pick up whichever plant tickles your fancy.

So far, the order between myself and another colleague in BC is being sorted out. BE informed me that the shipping costs for our plants alone is $236 plus $72 for BE permits. I am awaiting for the reply back from our CITES permit application from www.cites.ca/ for the appendix I plants and import permit from www.inspection.gc.ca from the Canadian food and inspection agency. The costs for these permits should be under $100. So once we agree on how we're splitting the costs of shipping and permits we're on our way. It will likely be prorated on the quantity and size of plants between the two of us over here. I'll post our formula on this board once we agree, and if you're still interested I'll base the cost on the same plus re-shipping out of the port over here. I'll have someone at the local post office/general store repackage the plants and figure out their charge out rate on top of it too.

Hi Flytrap,
if its not too late, I would be in for the following:
Nepenthes ampullaria (Brunei) (large) #0009 $12 Nepenthes mirabilis echinostoma #0043 (Large) $12 Nepenthes ramispina (Medium) $9
Total: $33
For the shipping in Quebec city area, perhaps Dom1234 and me could get together, you would save on repackaging time, and we would save a bit on shipping, I'll have to ask him.
