Reverse Osmosis water is so easy to find a cave man could do it! No really I mean I understand where you are coming from cause its all so new. I and most others here were there before (me only 10-11 months ago). R.O. water can be found in bottles of say Culligan or Pure water etc. However chech the cap and it will tell you the parts per million or PPM of minerals which should be super low and they will usually say reverse osmosis or distilled which are both fine as long as they haven't been "reflavoured" with vitamins and minerals. The cap has all that info on it from those bottles. As for the peat moss you can use canadian peat sold at just about any garden center such as Zehrs, canadian tire, home depot, rona, etc. Just look for "Canadian Peat Moss". If yer talking about LFS (long fibered sphagnum moss) then that can be found at canadian tire and many other garden centres as well but it may take some looking!!!! Oh and for anyone else asking a where can I find question.... It does help if you add your location to your proflie so people that may be in your area can actually give you a specific place in your area. It also helps with group orders so everyone knows who is in their area so that shipping costs can be reduced if you want to get in on an order.

You should plant him in a well draining pot and put a saucer of water under the pot so that the soil can suck up the water from it. Don't make it too deep as it should be, I'd say roughly 1/2 depending on the pot size. That is an estimate for a 4" pot. Others may agree or disagree but it works for me. Hes gonna want a lot of light so put him in a window that gets good morning sun, as that is the time of day that the sun is less likely to burn him. If you want you can put him outside so he can catch his own food, but you have adjsut him to outdoor life gradually. I'd start with 30 min one day then an hour the next then maybe 2..then 3.. then 4.. then 5 and so on. Others may add to this but they are relatively good growers in our climate. Make sure he always has water and don't let him dry out! Although it is best to let the saucer dry out for a bit before you replace the water. Keep reading through all the venus flytrap posts! Trust me its worth reading every post! Chances are someone has already asked one of your next questions! Remember not to play with his traps and make them close, they will only open so many times so its best u let them catch their own diner!

Just grab a regular saucer that you use with plant pots, keep it filled with water under good light and you'll be fine.
Good light as in outside in full sun, definately follow Rug's method to get it used to the strong light.
Enjoy him!

Xavier.....distilled water is indeed different from reverse osmosis. They are two different techniques used to obtain mineral free water. Distillation is the way it sounds...basically using distilled or water that has been evaporated to re-condense as pure water. Reverse osmosis is the forcing of water from a high concentration to a low concentration through a semi permeable membrane...and as a result of it going against the concentration gradient: the word REVERSE. lol! Yeah....I have been using store bought distilled water for 2 yrs now. Its fine. I am soon getting an RO system at home and I can't wait to get water through the tap for my plants. lol! Dude...... okay! do this.... .get yourself a bag of 100% sphagnum peat moss at canadian tire, rona lansing, home depot garden centres or whatever. Also grab yourself a bag of perlite or silica sand if you can find it. Then basically make a rough 50% : 50% mix of it and then thoroughly wet it with the water. Then put it in a pot..... make a hole, put the plant i.e., its white onion style corm + roots into the hole and gently cover it up with the surrounding media till you can NOT see any of the white from the surface. Then yeah....just water the plant regularly, put it in good sunglight (direct sunlight is the best) and you should be able to enjoy a wicked venus fly trap. here....read this: www.sarracenia.com/faq/faq2000.htmlevery question on VFT's is answered there.
