For vft's, half peat moss and half sand is good enough. For watering, use either distilled, reverse osmosis or rain water. I'm not sure about your purified water. You're trying to keep the water as mineral free as possible. If the ppm of your purified water is as low as the others, it may be okay. If you are able to collect rain water, that is the cheapest and probably all you need. You can collect fresh snow in the winter as well, and store it in containers. It just depends on how much room you have.

where can i get osmosis water bottles
Most grocery stores, you can use rain water too.
how can i get the moss
This time of year most stores that sell garden plants will have peat moss. Make sure it is strait peat with no fertilizers added. You can also add perlite or some course sand. I have been using strait peat with good success.

If you live nearby, you can come get some rainwater for free. Everywhere has distilled water for $1 for 4L. Peat moss in bags is everywhere. Chilean sphagnum is at Bustans & New Zealand is at Lee Valley.
