Congrats on your recent acquisition...sounds like you've wanted one for a while. One tip for a robust and happy vft...outside in a southern exposure with full sun. Just make sure there is always water in the tray so your vft doesn't dry out. An outside vft outshines an inside plant every time. You don't even have to feed it...it feeds itself.

Congrats, it's the beginning of the end for you now, this is where we ALL started A suggestion to you, get rid of the gravel and just sit the plant in that tray and keep it watered like that, it looks shallow enough that even topped up it'll only be part way up the pot. that plant will get pretty big pretty fast just you wait!

Yup... I have to agree with Mabudon... you're hopelessly past the point of no return, but that's not such a bad thing.
Enjoy that venus flytrap and don't be afraid to expand your collection.

I agree with the rest on addiction, I got my first VFT last october... now I've got 7 of them, a ping, a sundew, a ceph, working on building a terrarium and a small bowl bog for outside this summer I give you a few more months at the most before you get antsy wanting more As Mabudon said, keep it sitting in that water tray without the rocks and fill the tray everytime it almost gets empty. They are bog plants so they love thier water! Congrats again!

Pot size is fine for now, you'll know when it's "too big" for it, looks like a single growth point right now so that should be fine for 2-3 years. Just don't let it freeze solid (sounds like you have that part figured out and it'll grow nicely once the warmer temps kick in. Not a concern right now, but do start looking into options (here on the forum) for dormancy so you can have a plan in advance

alrighty thanks, yes i can't wait for those warmer temps i hope no1 thinks newfoundland like Antarctica cuz it ain't. I'd say by the end of this month the weather should be reasonable for daytime outside days but not during the night BRR!. dormancy isn't a problem to be until it comes but i do have a reasonable idea and it ain't my own stubborn idea its an experts idea so I'm fine
