lol Low PH is acid, 7 is "Neutral" and higher is Basic Sawks was right- but it's too hot to think here in Ontario right now anyways, so EQL loses no points

You know, I think it's overkill personally. If you're determined, you could always make some kind of "tea"- most tea is quite acid to begin with, but you would have to look into it- see "peat tea" on google maybe??
It'd be way cheaper and likely more effective for lowering the PH. I haven't bothered with anything that elaborate tho- I don't know if it'd necessarily wipe out the algae altogether either- some of it could be slime-moulds and stuff- you'd almost be better to figure out a top-coating for your pots, some kind of bark-mulch or something, or just try to encourage some moss to grow on there??
I find Algae in pots tends to die away after several months as the surface gets less able to support it.
Way to bring this back on topic tho!!

Peat would acidify the soil. I use a few tbsb. of peat pellets in my 10 gal. aquarium filter and the pH went from 7.4 (Toronto tap) -> 6.4. I wouldn't use any of the aquarium chemicals to alter pH, ordinary old peat should do and the chemicals may burn the roots of CP's. Any soil mix with any peat product will be fairly acidic, I'm sure.

Put the peat in a plastic bottle with distilled water, shake it and let it sit until you have peat broth then filter. It should be quite acidic. I'm not sure if it will deter the moss though.

MY problem is algae growing on my peat, so I'm not sure that any of this will work. Or am I wrong. I also have it growing on my LFS as well and I have been using a misting bottle to water my seeds to keep the top moist. I will have to try the peat pellets I guess.

If anybody finds a place that sells peat pellets let me know, my old supplier is gone and I'm running out.

I think algae can come from anywhere, air, water, plants, soil. I even had some algae looking stuff in my TC from S. purp and darlingtonia (grown from sterilized seed). It seemed to come from inside the plant tissue itself. I don't have a microscope so I don't know what it was.

So, if I'm understanding this topic right, algea does not hurt CPs but smells bad and creates a not so nice look. Am I correct here? My terrarium has got it growing now, too much in my opinion, but if it's not harmful I'll leave it just that much longer before I clean it
