Hi guys, damn! I am shelling out money like crazy. i'm down 200$ already for my plants this summer. here is my new nep enclousure. Lloyd, vinc, u guys have this too...please give any suggestions to improve. right now it has the same single light inside there. one side is being held by the wire itself...the second side..I tied a thread over the tube to the frame. Do u think it is risky?? thanks, varun

If you can think of something happening, it probably will. So if the light seems precarious, at one time or another it will likely fall crushing the plants and maybe breaking the bulb and shorting out. Make the effort to secure all the mechanical and electrical parts with proper equipment from a hardware store. It won't cost much and it will prevent problems.

I only use lights for my TC and petri dishes for propagating/germination in the basement. I cobbled together two old 4 foot single fluorescent fixtures with cool-white bulbs and some odds and ends of wood and metal strapping. It's jury rigged but free. It's right up against a wall so it's secure. Plus the previous owner left a box of about 40 4 foot coolwhite T12 bulbs.

but don't u have the same kind of enclousure for your neps as well? But still though...it seems cool I don't have to bother with the humidity thing anymore...its like 90% in there.

I have a hexagonal glass aquarium with a fairly closed lid for my neps. 100% humidity and sunlight filtered through a light curtain. Always warm to hot except in the coldest days of winter when it gets to around 18C.

aaah...so I guess it was just vincent who had his neps in this kind of an enclousure. Well...the hukidity is nicely at 85-90% and I guess i am using the same light as before so I hope it should be fine.

Hey Vreav! Just found this since you mentionned it! Nice setup (Same as mine... Well almost I got the 3 story you got the 4!) Something I did to keep temps up if you want to grow lowland is putting plastic over the grill... Also helps for Humidity%! Good luck man! You wont regret that investment! Cya

How many Neons are you using for the heck of it? because 1 for the whole greenhouse is not enough REALLY I got 4 in one 5 in the other 1/2 Gro and Sho and 1/2 Warm White... Cya

right now its just one. But the way I plan it, once I get the other neps, I will get 2 more tubes. Probably one gro and sho and the other a warm white for the lowlands. Basically, the bottom most shelf will have the rajah, the ramispina. The middle is the huge miranda, the top most shelf will house the bical and ventrata. I might actually move the ventrata down to the intermediate location.
basically, the top shelf wil have the single warm white for the lowland, the middle will have one gro and sho for the miranda and ventrata.
bottom most will have another gro and sho for the rajah and ramispina.

That Sounds right! I've done the tests with Warm White and Gro and Sho and seriously theres not much of a Difference... With the Warm White I get redder plants (Drosera Wise) But I still personally wouldn't put just Warm White... Let me know hoiw it turns out for you! Btw.. You can Leave your Ventrata lowland wise if you want they addapt pretty fast to the warmer conditions... Mine grew like that for 6 months and pushed out more pitchers than I can Remember(Litterally) The reason I had it lowland is because It was sold to me as a X Coccinae(I WISH IT WAS THAT) and never took the time too look at the accual coccinae picture on the net... I was then kind of pissed... But hey Its a nice plant now!(Over 3 feet long with many shoots) Cya
