Was out snapping photos in the bog and as always, looking to my favoured leucos. Well I guess its getting to be the time of year when they are beginning to look great! thought I'd share some of the range from straight seedlings, cultivars, and hybrids. Enjoy! Sib "tarnok" this is a young plant, but even still the large throat is apparent readii - looks very much like straight leuco, just shorter, redder and more pitchers more often! from gas station site... this is my favourite seedling in the lot, very crisp white, clean red veins, alot ov variability in the group for being only 3 or 4 seedlings from deer park alabama - another variable set of seedlings, but all have good amounts of red -maroon veins, some are sparse but very thick others very thin but many. Right now these are growing exponentially! Judith hindle I do have other leucoplylla plants but most are just sending up their new pitchers and will be very nice in another month or so...

Must be nice to have that extra month on the beginning and end of the growing season. All I have ever gotten out of my leuco are the wimpy spring/summer traps. They tried putting out the robust pitchers a few years ago, but the frost got 'em before they opened I wish I could move my entire bog down to your area!!! But seriously, nice plants and pics. Thanks for posting them. >>> Rick <<<

thanks! Well this year rick my plants should be on par with yours as the bog wasn't finished and planted till june sometime I think? it was well after my main garden was done and most of the sarrs were in the fridge and those that weren't got burned off some. I'm very excited to see what the newer crop of pitchers will be. I noticed that the rubras have switched to the more robust and stocky pitchers, I can only hope thats what my leucos are going on to. It's definately been a learing experience though, and next year will really be the tell. Thanks, Sib

oh and vraev, I haven't got a pure white one yet, but once I'm certain of the scope of colours and patterns that I have I will try to fill in the gaps. Hurricane creek is on my list to get and it's got great colour! Sib

lol! sad to say that the majority of the plants out there are round 1' tall, odd exceptions being taller and a few smaller. I've been told over and over again to have patience as apparently the first year is all about establishment and next year will be big growth! Heres hoping! As for your fish tank, flush the fish and go with frogs! you can plant their home with cps and have dual purpose hahaha. Thanks, Sib

The bigger cichlids definitely have lots of personality. I had a huge sevarum that was close to 7 years old when it finally got sick and I buried it in the garden. It would take food from my hands and it would pay attention to everything around it. If you were in the basement doing anything it would always stare at you continuously and follow you in the tank. My wife was convinced it was really intelligent. Before it got old it would dash around the tank knocking the heater around and pulling up all the plants then shredding them to bits.

Beautiful leucos Sib! Yes they are my favourite sarracenias too. Have you had a look at the old Adrian Slack leuco hybrid? I can't remember the hybrid / cultivar name, but it is an absolutely gorgeous leuco cross that shows bright red lips against a mesh of white. If any of you can obtain one of these ... you'll be happy for the rest of your life

Leucos are my favourites in photo collections, but I hate growing them in my conditions, as they will just start to put out the more robust pitchers only to have them get knocked off by frost. I envy those of you who have a month or two longer growing season than we have here.

heres an update for you leuco fans! vigorous chipola river FL Tarnok I'm waiting for the latest batch of deer park leuco pitchers to open, I thought that last set of pitchers was the fall batch, guess I was wrong, these new beast are a distinct cut above the rest! Also waiting on martsons clone moorei to open and a moorei from pensicola FL, still hoping against hope that I'll finally see what the hardy leuco pitchers like, but so far nothing Don't be surprized to see another update hehe. Enjoy! Sib
