I thought I'd start a photo thread of perhaps, one of the other "first time" pitcher plants (besides our beloved VFT) as every Newby dives into this CP hobby... and that is, the Purple Pitcher plant (Sarracenia purpurea). There are a few subspecies, variants, and cultivars of this beautiful species. My first pic here is of S. purpurea venosa var. 'montana' - a rarer form. This plant has it's origins from California Carnivore's nursery. The plant itself is sort of "dwarf" in proportion, and it's leaves are nicely shaped - thick and almost rubbery in appearance, with a small "pinching" of it's mouth. I also like the nice venation pattern on this little plant. The plant remains nicely green with the venation, even when grown in full sunlight: I'll post photos other variants of purpurea on this thread later. Please also post photos of your purpureas too!
