Nice happy neps Yes, the ramispina is one of my favourites too. Mine just sprouted upper pitchers this spring, and they look fairly nice too... with large gaping mouths on dainty pitchers. I sort of wish they would sprout more offshoots. I've only had two offshoots, and one of them recently found a new home in Ontario Yes, those villosas are puny. They are the sloooooowest growing neps I've ever had. Mine is approx the diameter of a quarter, after growing 3 years in my clay pot. I also lost three of them earlier when the sun baked down on them last summer. Now I keep them away from direct sunlight.

I got to say that BE packs their plants wonderfully. The leaves are perfect...they are not at all floppy and the roots are clean and perfect. Probably the best plants ever, I rate BE 5/5 for their service, quality and style. Very VERY professional.

Vraev,
Your rajah is larger than mine... and with pitchers to boot!
I don't think mine was overly happy out in the main room, so I moved it into an aquarium that's about 3" off of the basement floor. I don't know what the temps are, but it's quite cool down there.
I'll try to get a pic and put it online tomorrow morning... maybe Vraev, Flytrap and anyone else with one of these can post pics of theirs in the same thread (or start it if I haven't already).
Flytrap: The water at the bottom of the aquarium is around 68F through the day and cooler at night. Do you think moving it into a clay pot would be good for it.
And yes, thanks for that ramispina, among many others... it seems to be quite happy here (once the winter passes and the humidity comes back up).

Hi Rick and everyone... I'll post my growing experience on my rajah and other plants. I'll post it on the cultivation techniqes thread. If everyone can "adopt" a favourite or a fussy (or even an "easy" plant (whether you are currently growing it now, before or would like to grow it)... we can start assembling a Canadian hobbyists' growing list. We can all add and refine our info to each plant, no matter who starts the species. Together, we can each perhaps help build a database of growing certain CP species here in our Canadian climate - using available Canadian gardening materials, shopping places and local conditions. I currently grow my rajahs in pond lily baskets, approx 10" x 10" square ...I'll head over to my greenhouse now to snap a few pics. see you on the cultivation thread later

Sounds like a good idea Rick. I have mine about 2.5' below the 400 MH I would guess the temp is 25 to 27c and 20 night 60%. I went on a holiday a few weeks ago to pender island its between Vancouver and Victoria. I had to stop at Hawiian Bot,. on the way home. Thats where I got mine. It hasn't missed a beat. How long have you had yours?

based on flytrap's pics, the rajah's at hawaiian botanicals are huuge. It would be great if you can show us yours sdeering. Well...rick, you know, personally I would say that yours is better as you already know how to grow it. I am very happy and satisfied with my rajah. I always wanted this plant and I am happy to obtain such a wonderful specimen. I just hope it can give me a chance to take care of it. That is definately true guys. Let us do this, WHy not create a thread JUST for a single species? We all like the nepenthes rajah, cephs, VFT (only one species, THE TRUE TYPICAL) and so on. Why not we create a thread JUST for it in the nepenthes board as a sticky? OR ELSE, if the mods agree, create a sub forum in the nepenthes folder for photos of single species. That would be amazing. I always love to browse around pics of a single species...especially as I had searched high and low on the internet for every rajah pic I could find: wild and cultivated. If the mods are here, it would be great if you guys can CONSIDER this. Then all the rajah growers, similarly, all the ramispina growers, all the hamata growers and all...we can post threads with JUST PICTURES....just like how curlingguy updates his ceph thread. Those threads we CAN have NO COMMENTS...just pictures. It would be very resourceful and infact may increase the popularity of our site.

i really like flytrap's and vraev's ideas about caresheets/growing experiences for specific species, and/or creating picture threads specific to one species. my humble suggestion would be to combine these two ideas -- create threads for specific plants and people can post photos AND growing info relating to that plant.
the other kinda fanciful idea i had is to create a CP wiki (like wikipedia -- articles editable by anyone, or just by registered users). everyone could contribute what they know and no one person would have to be responsible for uploading/compiling information (although we would need someone who knows about wikis to keep it running -- i have no idea). i think it could be a good resource.
anyways vraev, flytrap if you are serious about your ideas maybe we should start a thread in "general" to talk about them further? i am not sure if it is really my place, as a newbie, to suggest/discuss big projects or changes since nobody really knows who i am (yet). but i think both your ideas could turn into something really cool.
