My name is Ryan. I suck at owning plants, I have owned a tropical plant and killed it, I had a spider plant and COULD keep it alive, but not get it to grow (I tossed it.. I dropped it on the ground the other day and got mad so threw it in the forest behind our house, lol), and so on.
I am hoping I will learn more at this site. :{

Hey! Welcome to the forum! We should be able to answer most of your questions! Do you own any Carnivorous plants? If not is there anything in particular that you are looking for? Here's some plants that are almost Bombproof: -Drosera Capensis(The Easiest) -Drosera X Tokaiensis -Drosera Aliciae -Pinguicula "Pirouette"(agnataX(Moranensis X Ehlersiae)) ... Maybe a few that I'm forgeting... Take a look at them on google Images! They are all Tropical and do not require any "Special" Care... If your interested, I have Drosera Capensis Plants and Seeds for free(Only charge is shipping)... Send me a Private Message if your interested! Cya

Did a little research on Drosera Capensis. What type of condition do these need to be in? Can they be in direct sunlight? They are interesting.

Hi Ryan, glad you introduced yerself My name's Carl, bythe way. D.cpensis will take just about enything, nojoke. They will get pertty impressivein full-sun. You have to remember, a lot CP's (Sars, Drosera and many Pings for starters) come from places where other, taller plants can't/don't grow, so most of them get all the sun there is. With that in mind, if you have lots of good light naturally, you're already over the most expensive part of cultivating CPs. No joke, I have WAY more trouble with houseplants than I do with CPs, they're really not as tricky to grow as it might seem. And remember, everyone has their own way that works for them- some methods that work perfectly for one person might not work at ALL for another, so do try to find your own "happy medium", you'll havea much easier time if you pay attention to your plants and use advice when you really need it. You should find everything you need here, hope you enjoy yourself!

Hey! The Capensis can sit in a dish of water on a windowsill with direct afternoon strong sunlight... The medium that is almost universal would involve Long fibered shpagnum or Shpagnum peat moss: Perlite: Sand in a ratio of 2:1:1 Thats what I use... If your interested let me know via Private message and i'll give you details! Cya
