Hi, I'm completely new to carnivorous plants. I've had an intrest and with the little information I have sao far I've learned I can grow some varieties outdoors. Guess I have alot to learn, glad I found this place.

welcome to the OCPS! Join in.....chat.....mingle....and have fun growing CP's. I was a newbie as well just 6 months ago (well....I kinda still am ) and since then I have stuck around and made a lot of good friends. So get some Cp's enjoy....have fun and you will find this a great place to trade and get exotic plants which you definately cannot find generally in canada.

I thought you lived in Margaritaville?!?!? (it's his location on another site we're both registered at, where I started a CP thread just to see what the buzz might be) Glad you signed on here, we've got a great crew all round- I'm CERTAIN we can help you get started with CPs, they're truly fascinating, rewarding, and for the most part easy to grow plants- can't wait til you get things rollin and post up some pics

Ha! Yes I live in Oshawa but my mind resides in Margaritaville. I've already dug up my old 20 gal from the basement. Just need a Mr Turtle pool now. LOL

aww, you don't have to get too fancy- for my first 2 years I got away with growing stuff in the food-grade plastic pails they get salad dressing in at restaurants Seriously, tho, once you've looked at enough stuff to get a rough idea of what you want to try and grow, post it up and we can guide your way a bit- I would imagine you'd want a VFT and maybe a Sarracenia to start out, but that's just a guess. If you'd like to try some indoor specimens as houseplants, there are some NICE Sundews and Pinguicula (Butterworts) that grow nice and easy in windowsills- good for keepin fruitflies down
