Hello everyone, some of you might know me, most probably don't my name is Brian Tran. I've been growing CP on/off for about 5 or so years. My collection is extremely small right now, I do currently have about 35 species of seed currently sown. I hoping for the best because they are all about 2 years old. Anyhooo, it's been a very long time and I thought I'd pop in and say hi to everyone in the Canadian CP community.

Hello, Brian - I'm not Canadian, but I seem to be the only one here right now, so I thought I'd extend a welcome, as I'm sure they would (and will). I hoipe you enjoy your time here. Ron

Hey Brian, it's great to see you here! Still into Phragmipedium flasking too? I'm a bit into TC too, so we might share a few on our experiments .

Hey man, I think we traded a few PMs at terraforums a couple of years back and then you dropped off the map. My name's Carl and I'm in the Niagara area. I will have seeds for quite a bit of stuff soon, sundews-wise, so keep yer eyes open and I'm sure you can get some fresher seeds to get ya rollin again, glad you made your way here!

lol...thanks guys, i've always enjoyed CP and don't think that'll ever change. hi tom, its great to see you're still around too =) i haven't done any TC'ing in a while but im thinking of getting back into it to grasp some new techniques, i'm going to probably build a poor-man's flowhood for my upcoming experiments.
So far about 7 species of my two year old seeds have germinated, ill post pics maybe later, its very exciting to see them germinate.

A boiling pan of water is great for transfering the plants (over live steam), but acting quick is a necessity for explants dessication and media re-melting... but it is a bit less hazardous IMO than the old burner/candle in a plastic box...

Don't give up on the seeds too soon. I usually get frustrated after a few months and dump them in another plant's pot. I originally got my (evil) U. subulata from a D. capensis plant (sent without any soil) after I had had it for almost a year. Now of course I can't get rid of it. So seeds can germinate after a long time.
