Introductions are so fun are they not? Hmm I guess fair is fair right?
My given name is Jacqueline....very few people get away with calling me that, Jack, Jacqui or Sib are much better choices
I'm 23 and work as the head of horticulture for a local marble orchard! I do everything from perennial program to annuals, memorial trees, and pest control(yes I'm licensed, wasn't that fun!). If it has anything to do with living green, it comes through me at work.
I don't get along well with the typical girl stereotype, I don't like shopping, only own 4 pairs of shoes (2 of which are steel toe). I can drive anything you throw at me, I learned on a stick shift dump truck and a 480 case backhoe. You get the picture. ;D
I became fascinated with the ever popular VFT when I was very young, don't remember how young, but I remember growing them along with the unnaturally coloured grafted cacti that my mem was so fond of! I cannot remember what became of it, I think it got lost in a move, but I had it for nearly 2 years. I've kept the odd plant off and on since then, but it really blossomed again when I took horticulture in college. Been growing fully committed ever since, so now the odd plants I had have company. I grow some of everything, I'm somehow getting quite the pygmie sundew collection considering I never tried for them. I've been working to build my sundew, sarracenia, dionaea and nepenthes collections.
In addition to my Carnivorous Plant hobby, the rest of my time is divided between gardening and my Rabbitry. Jack's rabbitry is a small business that I've built over 10 years, and is now home to about 40 rabbits full time not to mention their babies. I've been showing the whole time and have many Best of breed, Best in Section, as well as Grand & Reserve Champions. I focus on two breeds now, Dutch and Mini-Lops. I'm the only breeder of Harlequin dutch in all of Canada.
As for my roles here, I try and keep things running smoothly on the forum (if you ever have a problem, let me know and I'll do my best to fix it ASAP!), and I also tend the seedbank.
So as you can guess, I can get quite busy between work, shows and the farm (oh did I mention, I live on a farm?). But hey, it works just fine for me that way.
Thanks,
Sib
