As a result of our mild winter, my darlingtonias have gone maroon in colour. Quite the beauty. A few small losses with mild winters here on the coast , as the slugs and snails happily feed all year long. So - a few of the darlingtonia stolons and offshoots ended up as slug food. Out of the few hundred seedlings i sowed last year, more than half had made it through last autumn, only to have perished due to the dessication of it's growing media. Bummer. I was going to mail off a bunch of them to some of you. I'm only down to 3 seedling darlingtonias approx the diameter of a quarter. I think I may have a few floral spikes popping up soon. Will take some photos for all to view... as I know our resident Mr. V would be asking D
