I was going through some old photos yesterday, and I came across some old pics I had of one of my old plants - D prolifera. I don't hear much about this beauty anymore. Any of you grow it out there? It's a pretty little sundew from Australia, and I believe it's related to adelae. I think some folks call it the "hen and chicks" sundew. My old prolifera orignated from Leo Song...but the poor thing died years ago when I relocated to singapore. If any of you grow it, I'd love to get some seeds or cuttings ...I'll trade something with you David

Flytrap, I have some. I think I should wait for the spring, though. It is so easy to propagate. Just let any leaf touch the medium and you have about 4 new plants. Remind me when the warm weather comes.

I just got one in my Cook's shipment... (I finally have the whole family - adelae, prolifera and schizandra). Once it grows out, I'll propogate some for you as well.

I had one from someone here but the thing croaked SO fast I couldn't believe it, I barely even got to see the thing before it pooched out
Looks like there could be a spreading-out of this group o' dews in Canada coming pretty soon, good luck with them fellows!

I just did a Google search on this plant and fell in love.
If it is truly that prolific, I hope one of the people here who obtains it can produce several for trade to the other members. I would love to grow out that fancy little plant.
Cheers, Sean

If I can get this thing to propogate, I'll make the plants available in the spring, so keep an eye out in the "trade" forum... and don't worry - it won't take 31 days in shipping/customs like mine did!

I'd be happy to propagate some. It's like guppies, hard to get it not to propagate. I have to say it's sort of a standard sundew. It is good for a cooler, low light spot.

Thanks Lloyd and Rick and all... This is great. I can't believe it. Here I am stating I'm going to try get D. prolifera, when just 12months earlier, I mentioned that I wasn't too interested in droseras. Look forward to spring. And you're right Lloyd, they are like guppies... I used to have prolifera carpet an entire 33 gallon tank mossy floor. I particularly loved the runners they shot off everywhere. I did a quick google search, and here's a link to a fairly large image: www.aipcnet.it/Chiara/carnivore/Povo/dr_prolifera.jpg

That is a nice one. Mine isn't as big perhaps because I use a muckier brand of sphagnum.
