Just remembered that I uploaded a picture of one of pings flowers back in 2009 after remembering that I used to upload stuff on deviant art. Flower from my Esseriana photo is back back back from 2009 fav.me/d229ezzokay I couldn't get the image link to work :( so there is a link to the actual art page.. I will try n figure out linking to photos again soon.... Just not as good if it is not in the actual thread...

Lovely flower and nice photo Porcorosso. It is very different to the P esseriana form we have in NZ.KP.

This is one of the easiest plants ( I have seen ) to care for up there with spider plants. They are pretty prolific, kinda like tribbles, so it is easy to experiment with them. I just stick them in a peat/ sand mix and they grow and grow... they can handle flooding or drought it seems from what some of the people that have received these from me seem to report. I kept one as an air plant once for a few months in a glass globe and it turned into globe like plant, I eventually felt guilty and put back into dirt. My brother also had/has a pot that overflowed with them and they were living and growing out of medium just fine. Not that i recommend that of course. but I would say they are quite hardy.
Short story long: True Generalist.

Lovely flower and nice photo Porcorosso. It is very different to the P esseriana form we have in NZ.KP. I'm not sure it's a P. esseriana. Their flowers are usually lighter and without veins and they don't have the convex curve on the bottom petal. That flower looks more like a typical moranensis, which are indeed very easy plants to grow. P. esseriana is a little more fussy.

I am pretty sure it is an esseriana, It was given to me as one and matches all the photos i have seen of the actual plants. I have had a couple of folks identify it as such out here including jeannie at hawaiian botanicals , whom my brother gave some to. I will try to take some pics of the rosettes next week and upload them next week if I can figure out the photos.
That being said, I have often been wrong in many different areas in life. so am not going to be upset if I misidentified....
sweeet eraserhead avatar by the way :)

Here is a picture of my untidy pot of Pinguicula. It has since been tidied a few times :D The pic I took back when was under a strong light, you can see above that the typical flowers I get are a little less vibrant. Could have been a random extra colourful flower due to its diet at the time and good lighting I had back then? It came from one of these :)
