I was on highway 101 that goes along the coast from Washington to California a few days ago. Whenever I drive this highway, I always stop at the Darlingtonia Botanical Wayside near Florence Oregon. The plants are in a protected site that has a boardwalk and fences to protect the plants. It may not be the most natural site as it is in full sun with surrounding brush cleared and the drainage patterns may have been changed because it is close to a road and the highway. Plants at the waysideThere are two nearby sites that I know of that are not protected and are on public land. These are in a ditchThey are growing in Sphagnum and are probably about 80cm tall. The second site is beside a lake. They are much smaller with some growing in direct sun. Most are growing well above the water level in a compressed peat soil while others are in more sandy soil at the water's edge. Lake plantsDrosera rotundifolia growing with the Darlingtonia

Very nice.
Thanks for posting.
I am just learning about native plants and wish we had some areas for public viewing like that here in Ontario, Canada.
