Hello all, Since most people have cellphones, but do not have expensive and fancy cameras, it would be nice to have the ability to take some photos with our phones and share our plants on the forum. I ordered this lens from eBay, and it turns out to be quite nice, so I'm sharing with you the results here. Note that there are many varieties of the lens out there, I cannot promise the same results. The lens kit was about $5, comes with a lens unit containing a macro lens and a wide angle lens, with a lens cap. Note that the wide angle lens must be put on top of the macro lens, in order to work. Here's a quick photo with the wide angle lens. The clarity is not bad, and the focus distance is closer than without the kit on. Also the slight wide angle view gives us more details than default. This could be useful for showing a larger area at a closer distance. With just the macro lens, some low depth of field photos can be obtained. For just casual purposes, I think it's good enough. Here's a distance test. Without any lens, as default, my phone camera can get to this close: With the wide angle lens: With just the macro lens: The lenses do not give amazing results but they serve the purposes quite well. as the price is quite cheap, it can be a good solution for taking some photos of small or close distance objects. In conclusion, I would recommend the lens kit because it's small, effective at its job. Cheers, Willy

I attempted to purchase a macro attachment for my iPhone but when I got it home and opened it it was a mini telephoto lens - completely useless as it was basically a manual crop lens. I would certainly be inclined to pic up the proper lens like this for sheer convenience to pulling out the DSLR and laptop.

I got what I got from the Apple Store - my wife returned it and we didn't bother exchanging - there were lots of boxes on the shelf that surely had the correct contents. Maybe some time in the future I will consider it again...

Thanks for the tip, Willy. I've been trying to find a low cast way to take better pictures. My boyfriend has a nice DSLR but no macro lens for it. I didn't realise how expensive those things were. This will be way easier. Do you have link to the seller you used?
