So I happened to notice one of the plants hanging in the office was a pitcher plant. I waited till the plant guy showed up to ask him about it. I was hoping he was a source for live carnivorous plants but apparently it was the only one he had. He sold it to me for 15 bucks which was an amazing deal in my mind: What do you guys think? Nepenthes Alata? This is my first nep so I want to find a suitable place for it

Good deal!
It's a Nepenthes Miranda. Give it some love and it'll produce foot tall pitchers.

How much sun is too much sun for a nep miranda? I mounted it outside in a spot that I figured would take on less direct sun than my temperate planters, and it does, but its taking more than I expected. Today was a good sunny day, and I tried to pay attention. It didn't take any direct sun till the sun came over my house probably close to 1130 or noon, but except for cloud cover it's been getting pretty much full sun up until now, 6pm. The sun is about to dip below the spruce tree line on the west side of my property, so very shortly it will be out of direct sun. I guess if it was sun all day long, without breaks where it is mounted now it would get almost 7hrs direct. I was expecting closer to 4 when I mounted it. I really like where it is though.
Edit: nvm. Pretty sure I'll move it tonight. I see some browning on some leaves already after one day in that location.

Yup, way too much light. When you first move Neps outside you should be giving them no direct sunlight and then slowly move them into a place with some direct or even better filtered sun.
Less is best to start with.

I honestly didn't think even my planters were getting light for that many hours. And they aren't shielded by the house for the morning. Should just be happy I was paying artention, I guess. It's been moved already.
