Hey guys, name is Chris, from Aldergrove BC. I'm into growing Venus flytraps indoors. Recently had a problem with spider mites and fungus gnats. Spider mites seem to be gone(fingers crossed) still battling with the fungus gnats though. That's what brought me to this forum in search of info. Great site, lots of good pics and info.

Welcome around!
Throw a hardy Mexi-ping into your setup and you'll have no fungus gnats in a couple weeks. If you're worried about larvae, sliced potato laying on the surface of the pot will attract them and you can just switch it out daily.
That being said, fungus gnats are rarely a problem to plants.

Welcome, Chris, nice to have more BC CP lovers here! fungus gnats are only problematic when it comes to seedlings, from my experience they can take down half of your seedlings (like lettuce). Throw in a Ping or Sundew and you will find fungus gnats gone for good

Thanks for the tip on the ping, I'll keep my eyes open for one. The stores around me, one is closed for the season. The other is closed the days I have off work. I'm going to be using Acephate in the water that is given to the plants. Also going to spray down the plants with Acephate. All my plants (19 of them) are quite small, and the bug infestation has gone on for too long. I've also noticed I've got spring tales too.

I would avoid Acephate or any pesticides on CP's. CP's are super-sensitive to chemicals and you always have to weigh the likelihood of harm versus the possible benefits of any pesticides. Not to mention the toxicity to everything else.
Search for Neem Oil and the various pests here or ask before using any chemicals on your plants.

How do I go to the buy/sell section? H2o has a couple flytraps I'd be interested in purchasingand getting them shipped.

Little bit more about my self, I used to be heavy into salt water aquariums. Did that for about 10 years, buying, selling, propagating. I find the Flytraps are similar, just a lot cheaper to keep up and running.

Anyone know anything about "mosquito dunks"? I'm wanting to know if the treated water will burn the leaves of my VFTs.

D. Capensis, nothing special. There were three in the pot, none of them were looking so great.

They should look better once you take care of them
