Just wondering if live sphag is recommended as a growing medium without any additives. I have access to it where I live. It would be for N. alata for starters, any suggestions?

I use it for some plants, Darlingtonia, Drosera rotundifolia, Drosera anglica and a couple species of native orchids and grasses.
Works better as a top dressing on Nepenthes rather then pure all the way through. Also consider that if it collected Sphagnum it could contain pests and diseases that indoor plants wouldn't usually be exposed to.

Thanks, good point about the pests, a good hard rinse with the hose wouldn't get rid of any eggs either, hmmm.
