Hey guys, Has anyone tried using something like this before? I just found one of these at sheridan nurseries and figured I'll give it a try. I ended up buying a spare tray/replaced the included 18" fixture with 2 x 24" single bulb T5HO fixtures. Also put on an old old T8 24" fixture that desperately needs new bulbs. From a simple assessment of LUX using an app on the iPhone, these lights together are still lower than lighting in my two terrariums. So... it gives me a conundrum. Mostly the terrarium has been having issues with orchids that can't get warm enough + it is too bright in there for them. I am thinking of using this as a germination / cuttings tray. I need to make a bunch of divisions of various plants. But my concern is : 1) Do these lights work for CPs? 2) are two of them on these trays too weak? 3) Do they give good colour and growth? 4) There will be a bunch of orchids, but primarily it will be a VFT and ceph cutting tray. I would imagine lower light demanding plants like neps should be fine...but not light hungry devils like VFTs or cephs. cheers V

I use those domes with T5HO 4 foot X 4. Lots of light but the heat can really build up under the lights.

I use Sunblaster nanodomes since years. For your question: -yes -no -yes Sunblaster, IMHO, is the best lighting in the world. So trust me, you will get good colors. These lil domes bring the lights very close to the plants. But only very little plants can be grown in nanodomes. Even h.minor do not fit(adult plants) in this setup but its nice for seedling. The only negative point is the heat. These little domes hold a lot of heat, so sometimes HL plants can struggle in it. Its a 7/10 products in my opinion. I use them for my cephs, they seems happy. I open the lids on hot days. Hope that help a bit !

Thanks guys. I will be predominantly growing cephs and starting a bunch of new VFT cuttings under there. Not to mention some warm growing lepanthes as well. I was already considering whether I should cut a hole and retrofit a small fan in there.get the warm air out.

Also, I don't know if your table is wide enough but wouldn't it be better to put the tray along the light rather than perpendicularly to them ?

Oh yes. that is possible. I thought this would give more light. But I change it to that config as you suggest. Probably should help with getting rid of some deadzones. thanks
