I have a chance of getting this tank/terrarium for dirt cheap: 22 gallon long, has a spray foam and coconut fibre background. Screen + glass lid. For terrarium use. - 36"l x 12"w x 12"h. It is basically an aquarium that's been converted. He kept poison dart frogs in it. I forgot to ask what vegetation he also kept in it. My question is: is it safe to use this as a terraium for my CPs? Is there any special "treatment" that I should do to make sure that it's hygenic for the CPs? Thanks (I'm a noob with CPs)

Can't hurt to clean off the foam and fibre and let it dry out in the sun to kill off any pests or diseases.

Fill it with bleach water and put in direct sun then rinse it out and let it airdry...should be ok then

OK. Thanks. I'm new to CPs and I do have other questions that I couldn't find answers to on the net. I'll ask those in sequence of my progression in understanding the CPs' nature. Thanks again

I agree with lloyd. Cleaning out everything and wash the terrarium would be the best option. I wouldn't keep the coconut fibre if I were you. But if I want to keep the spray foam background, I would wash everything thoroughly, fill the whole tank with water and let it sits for a week, then wash again, fill with water and sit for another week; also use TDS meter to check the water to be safe. You can replace the coconut fiber with peat later on.

If you want a glass tank with lid, I have seen some 25 gallon ones on sale for around $20cad near New West.

They are good tanks man. I definitely recommend them. I wish I had gotten the 3' tank rather than the 2'. But for the sake of lighting cost etc...I ended up getting the 2' and i am already filled up corner to corner.
