I've got piles of Spanish Moss that I got in Savannah Georgia. It's actually a Tillandsia! (Tillandsia usneoides) I don't know about using it as a ground cover. It likes to be hanging out in the air and needs misting. I have it hanging all over my grow room and you could hang it down the back of a terrarium. Thoroughly mist it with weak fertilizer every few days.
However, I have seen bags of that stringy stuff for flower arrangements and plant pots and I'm pretty sure it's not live Spanish Moss.

Hi Dennis, Spanish moss isn't a type of moss. From Wiki: "The plant's specific name usneoides means "resembling Usnea", and it indeed closely resembles its namesake Usnea, also known as beard lichen, but in fact Spanish moss is neither a moss nor a lichen. Instead, it is a flowering plant (angiosperm) in the family Bromeliaceae (the bromeliads) that grows hanging from tree branches in full sun or partial shade." Reading this article about how to grow Spanish Moss, I doubt it will do any good near CP or on Peat. jamesmissier.blogspot.ca/2013/01/tips-to-grow-spanish-moss.htmlIt seems that they would rot easily if kept moist all the time, and they have to be hanged in some manner. If I were you, I won't put it on my peat, unless you really like how it looks, dead and as ground cover.

Hang those Spanish moss!! They aren't even moss!! I was wondering cause I have a lot I have a 1 gallon fishbowl to make a terrarium for VFT's and temperate CP's Since the bowl is glass, can I cut some Spanish moss fine and put a layer on top of aquarium gravel to hold water and then use sphagnum on top as the main media to sow the seeds on|? I plan to use some to hang on the terrarium for shade should I ever need shade or will this spanish moss contaminate the peat? it says on the bag it is good for potted plans, media covering

The stuff you have is probably dead Spanish moss and it's put on the top of the soil to make house plants look pretty.
You can hang it up and see if it grows, but I wouldn't use anything other than peat or sphagnum as a medium for CPs. General rule for beginners is if you haven't heard about a technique, don't make one up. Keep it simple.

You don't, it's an undrained container. You just don't overwater it.
