I've been a part of this OCPS CP forum for just over a year now. And now we have our 100th member. We're a smaller gathering, and that's the beauty. I've got to say, that I've been most impressed with the quality of people on this forum. I have seen a lot of sharing and genuine generosity. Only in Canada. I started out as a cynic, and somehow got invited to help with the moderation... but the great work goes out to all of you, and to Sib for getting this forum going. Over the course of the past 12 months, we've seen the odd bad apple and have seen the people on this forum reach out to strangers - like the time when that crooked nursery "Hot House Carnivores" ripped off one of our members, a number of us, including the westcoast nursery, "Hawaiian Botanicals" came to the rescue with free plants to ease the pain. We've seen people give away plants and seeds for free without asking for anything in return... And when one of our regulars became a bit depressed with his studies, our community came out with words of wisdom and encouragement. Man, it really makes me really proud to be a Canadian. And a CP Canadian at that. Congratulations all. I sincerely hope to meet some of you during one of our cross country CP events one day. Thanks, David

amen to that. I guess also the small size allows us to know the regulars better and hence promotes the feeling of close friends which we cannot get at other forums. ALl in all.......Keep going OCPS! BTW...I got to get back to sleep.....15 more min and then got a ton of shit to do today. :S

Amen to that, Flytrap.
It's just too bad that this country is so darned large. It would be really awesome to get everyone together for a day or two. But even though that isn't likely, I still get that warm feeling of friendship with many on this forum, even though I have never them face to face before.
And the ones that I have met... just a super bunch of people.

Yes, I think it fills a niche that is missing in the overall CP online experience- there's LOTS of informational resources out there, but the "human resource" was non-existent in Canada until Sib got this board started up. It's too bad our darn country is so big as Rick stated- but with no borders and a decent postal system, this is better than many of us could have hoped for even 10 years ago I'd say And like that "this site cracks me up" thread I started a bit ago- we really do have a fine collection of really warm, witty, generous and just plain "nice" folks here... Despite our differences, I have found that most folks on here share at least one other area of interest with me (besides CPs I mean), and I truly feel as tho pretty much all of the folks posting on here are my friends- my door is always open to anyone who cares to drop by (I've proven this as many times as I've been able to- hopefully in the next month or so I can host a bona-fide "group" here, the plan for which will be announced shortly) Simply put, WE rock, and once again thanks to everyone who helps make this a fact

I agree too, there isn't much fights, political/war opinions... just plain CP and fun And if it weren't Sib and this forum, I would have quit CP more than 1 year ago... Now we just need to form a lobby and make those greenhouses cheaper, getting tax discounts on CP expenses and make them plant Sarracenia fields along the highways

I'm happy I can contribute to a "local" community that feels more like home than the other CP forums. I am also glad we can legally & easily trade/sell CPs with you guys here. I also would feel bad if I didnt post here to let you all know how I really appreciate those I have exchanged information and plants with. Because this is whats its all about!

Can't agree more with everyone... When I started the forum a little over a year ago, I had absolutely no idea how it would grow! Back then I could count the amount of canadian growers on one hand that I knew... now the members counter has hit 100. Sure people come and go, and many lurk, but it's nice to see how many regular and friendly faces we have here. Good work Gang! Sib
