As we all know, nothing Canadian exists unless it's noticed in the USA. So by that criterion, we have made it. In the latest issue of the Carnivorous Plant Newsletter put out by the ICPS, the OCPS (and CCPS) are mentioned by name (or acronym) as being membership based carnivorous plant societies (amongst 16 others) around the world.

Thats great news. I guess we really have to take the OCPS to the next level. I mean we should see if we can get a cheap affordable web solution....charge a minimum membership fees or something like that and then see if we can make our society as a truly great one. I mean we can have field trips to bogs in our local areas and etc.

Hmm im a bit doubtful about CCPS, since its also the acronym of Colorado CP Society, and perhaps OCPS is also another similar acronym for a city in the USA...

Oh well, maybe only our 15 minutes of fame. To think we're less important than the Oklahoma CPS or the Ohio CPS. Sic transit gloria mundi.

Never know, it might have meant us!! Either way, we exist as a community AND have "members" so whether or not we're in the Big Leagues, there's no real stopping us now

lol! you could definately have a price on your head if you start spreading drosera capensis as well. Maybe LLoyd would be the first one on the list with his 1000's of capensis seeds.

Contrary to rumour, I don't have any capensis seed left. I gave quite a bit away at one time or another and now none is left. Unlike U. subulata it is possible to get rid of capensis if you're determined.
By the way, it looks like Tom is right and CCPS is the Colorado CPS but it does indeed look like the OCPS is us.

Insectivores: hmm CCPS/SCAPI has been registered as a non-profit society, but i think this name 'ownership' is restricted to Canada. Anyway, to most other CPers outside Quebec, especially outside Canada, the original CCPS/SCAPI don't even seem to be considered at all as a serious CP society, and link between it and them haven't been made strongly. Perhaps a future recognition of it could be made if it could grow stronger, that some actions would be taken to 'put us on the map'. P.S. I don't want to bring back the debate weither or not the CCPS has its place or not

Insectivore: You bet! Unfortunatly, in my case I can't hardly get more implicated by the distance between me and Montreal, plus the fact that I'm kinda low on money, got no car, overwhelmed by jobs (currently 2) and school... But montreal got a very nice potential for local meetings. It just needs some serious and steady volunteers to get involved in the area... just like you, Titom and Martin If it would have the potential, Quebec would have been easier for me to set up something, but i dont think it would worth the effort for now, although there is a lot of interest in my orchids society for CP.
