I'm looking forward to catching up on a few weeks posts over the next few days. I've tried to keep my plant maintenance and upgrade schedule, recently deciding on a 400 watt MH lamp kit to replace 2 x 4' T5HOs. 2 days before purchase, a Tek 4 x 4' fixture comes up for $150 (along with a very nice external cannister filter...), so much for experimenting with MH. I'm very happy with this setup. Twin switches: Each lamp has its own reflector: At work: And with some happy plants: I just can't get away from T5s. The same guy had an 8 lamp fixture available as well. I was REALLY tempted.

Looks good. I'm very happy with the T5HO's. It's amazing that hard-core succulents grow very well under them.

I have several fixtures here and it's mostly all I use. More than enough light to grow CP. I am very very happy with my T-5 lights as well

Thanks. They are tough to find around here too. Check kijiji and Craigslist. Aquarium forums are also good sources as they have high light requirements as well. It's luck and timing - I was days from purchasing an MH kit when these came up for sale. I'll be experimenting with high colour temp bulbs (actinic, 10000K) - can't hurt and might have some interesting effects on growth and flowering. The geek in me keeps wanting to experiment with alternative lighting methods though...

I got my first single this spring at our local garden center. It's on my daughters aquarium. I'm still planning on getting another one or two to hang on my terrarium and ditch the spiral compacts.
