I was just wondering..since winter is here and making a bog container seems like waste of time right now I have VFT seedlings that will need dormancy next year, is there a way to make containers I can leave outside or in the shed....bear in mind we average 25 cms of snow each winter.

Yes there is, when the season comes to an end when the plants go dormant they can take being frozen, so yes you can store the plants in a Unheated garage for the winter, but you have to make sure they are fully dormant !!

I would think open or closed traps going yellow or black VFT's grow slow how would I tell if growth stopped or not? I use sphagnum peat moss if they do disappear ad it looks like a pot of dirt is it ok or too late for it?

VFTs grow pretty quickly outside in the summer and should be putting out new traps all the time. And the old traps go black even when they aren't dormant. A dormant plant may lose all its leaves but it should have a nice healthy white bulb below the surface of the soil. If you don't see that, your plant is permanently dormant. More here from Barry Rice: www.sarracenia.com/faq/faq2400.htmlAdded Bonus! I think he mentions cpgeek from this site, a long-time expert CP grower. Remember the P word. It is important when growing CPs.

Patience is not about waiting... It's about having a good attitude while waiting
