Hi fellas, as some of you already know I recently moved to mainland BC from Vancouver Island. Most of my plants survived the move and are now accustomed to their new home for the most part. On a side note: My plants are currently under Thrips attacks... I just ordered some Spinosad from eBay. Has anybody used that stuff? Enjoy! Great looking plants. Do VFT varieties grow true from seed?

Great looking plants. Do VFT varieties grow true from seed? Don't think so. Child plants do seem to inherit some traits from their parents most of the time though.

Great plants.
For thrips at this time of year, put the plants outside. I find the plants seem to be healthier outside and more able to fight the thrips or the thrips are just not able to thrive as much outside.

very nice looking VFTs!
I don't bother trying to rid thrips in my pots anymore… in the old days, I would place the pot with thrips in my dart frog tank, and let the dart frogs feast away. I can only suggest that you submerge your thrip infested pot in water over night, and run water in the holding container to gently flush away the thrips as they float to the surface.

I have most of my collection outside right because of mites, and they are doing much better. They don't mind the pesticide treatments as much when growing outside either.

Lloyd and David both make good points about thrips.
My outdoor Nepenthes never have thrips while my indoor ones are at constant war with them.
Typically for flytraps outside I will just separate infected ones away from from the collection. If I get around to sprays it then great, if not once winter comes it does the job for me. Winter is like an awesome reset button.

One plant has gotten so bad that it has shrunken to 1/3 of its former size I received my Spinosad in the mail yesterday... it's supposed to act like a neurotoxin that messes up pests' nervous system. Will report how well it works.

Thrips are sort of like bacteria, propagate like crazy and develop resistance. I find plants that are healthy and grown in the most natural conditions will get over the thrips. I know they used to be on my outside sarrs but they didn't seem to do much to the plants. Rather than insecticide, think of trying to improve the culture techniques.
