...hey guys, very exciting day for me today. I received my very FIRST live plant in the mail!!! It's a P. Primuliflora. It looks in good shape and just the flower petals came off during shipping so it should be ok. It has little plantlets growing on the tips of two of its leaves. My question is what do I do with them, do I treat them like regular leaf pullings or is there something else I need to do??? I'd like to propagate this plant, D'Amato says they are short lived. Thanks again in advance. Cheers, Gabriel.
(Hal!!!!, where are you.........haha)

Hi Gabriel, I grow P. primuliflora on a mix of 50/50 peat/sand or on LFS. I give it plenty of light and keep it really wet in comparison to my other pinguicula. I keep the water level at half the pot high. For the plantlets, just lay the tip of the leaves over the humid media and roots should form and grow. I usually don't remove the plantlets from the leave but can't say what would happens if you do so. Here's what you'll get in a few months Pinguicula primuliflora flower par Shoggoths, sur Flickr

...thanks for your reply and advice Shog! That's the media I put it in, I also threw in some coarse aquarium gravel to break it up (don't really like using perlite). Since I have 2 plantlets I'll try what you said with one and experiment with the other by removing it. Experimenting is fun! . That's a beautiful flower you've got there, very nice. Man I suck!!! Everybody here's got tons of kickass plants and I don't even have anything to enter the 'Plant of the Month' contest. I am soooo behind, should've been doing this years ago! . There is no envy smiley. Cheers, G

Hey Gab, we all started somewhere. 20 years ago, I borrow my first CP book from a Library but I was only able to start growing CP 4 years ago ... none (other than VFT) were available near were I lived. Once started, CP are addictive so don't despair, you'll have CP all over the place and great pictures to show in no time I put the picture for your motivation because I think primuliflora is a really nice plant worth being take care of Good luck qith it!

P. primuliflora is very easy. I have one in a glass jar in a north basement window which is coolish in the winter. About 3-4 years old. Flowers all winter and grows big leaves in the summer.
