Hello everyone, Was just checkin' out my plants and thought it was pretty cool how one of my S. oreophilas is actually pushing the sides of the pot with growth from this year. I got it about two years ago as a plant with two growth points from Petmantis, I think. They grow so fast!! The pictures don't do it justice for how sturdy it feels.. There are also more growth points than shown above. Oreos are definitely one of my favourite species. This plant dried out completely many times completely, it froze multiple times, and I generally neglected it a lot along with all of my other Sarracenias until I finally put it in the fridge and it looks like it's perfectly healthy. Not only are they bomb proof, but they even grow well in semi-shady conditions and have beautiful pitchers! If anybody's new to growing Sarracenia, I recommend S. oreophila!!

I have a few in my pots outside and they always do well. Not the most showy or colorful but they are good, dependable plants. It's too bad they are so endangered in the wild. ....your new avatar gave me a migraine

You would think that since they grow so fast there would be no need to poach them, but then again I guess poaching isn't the only thing killing them off. There shouldn't be a need to poach anything in the wild anyway. Hahaha, it's a bit much to look at for too long.

It looks like Audrey 2 getting ready to break out of its container, lol. You wouldn't have added anything to your collection that led to your choice of avatar, would you? Perhaps a giant monkey frog?

Looks awesome! If I had to guess I would say this plant is originally from Carl, I believe I have the same plant. Out of all the clones I have from him it grows the fastest, it seems to have a love for breaking the sides of pots.
I think oreo's are very underrated, they just start the Sarracenia season off with a bang! Can't wait to see pictures of the flower show next year.

I think you're right in saying they're originally from Carl. I got a couple other oreo clones from him as well that managed to survive my abuse too. Hopefully the squirrels won't chop off all the flowers this year. . .

Hi Devon - That does seem to be a particularly hardy clone! I had a clone of one that some one gave me at one point. The pot froze a little bit and that was it for that plant. I wonder what the provenance of your clone is. Regardless, it seems like a winner.
As for your new avatar... Remember all orchids are safe. CP's too. But you have to beware of some cacti. They can cause your rainbow, color-change frog to get dizzy!
