Check out what I found growing in at least two of my S. purpurea pitchers. Although I am sure that this sort of thing is not unheard of, I though I'd share it regardless. I'm going to leave the seedlings in the pitchers just to seed what happens because why not and possibly post some more photos if the seedling gets considerably bigger.

I Have seen the same thing happen in my Purp Too for some reason but mine is bigger than your because I had it grow in the plant for a longer time It is just a weed no point in keeping it It is usually caused by bugs when they pick up the seeds when they are flying around and when there is days when your plant have little water in the pitcher the seeds start to grow

Ray I am pretty sure its from a tree that spreads its seeds via cotton bits that float in the wind (possibly a cottonwood?). Trust me I know its a weed, my bog-tub and all the sundews are full of the cotton bits and the resulting seedlings.
I was thinking of going to Vancouver soon and thus Hawaii Botanical too, so I could pick up a U. gibba and try it out. No harm done if experiment fails eh?
