It's been so cold this spring, I just took my plants up to the deck 3 days ago. I've taken them in and out of the garage for a couple of weeks. There's lots of buds but the flowers won't be up for at least a month. Your's are really early.

Your plants are looking good there Petmantis. It'll probably be a month or more before I can leave some Neps outside for the summer again. It's snowing here today and is currently just above freezing, but if we get some nicer days soon, i might be able to harden off some plants outside sooner. dvg

. . . and the cats haven't yet snacked on my Sarracenia flowers. S. flava var. atropurpurea S. flava var. cuprea S. x catesbaei And some others: Very slow-growing N. robcantleyi, or whatever they're calling it now. I haven't been keeping up with the discussion over at the pitcherplants forum. N. jamban, still kickin'. A Ceph! More to come. Maybe. Howdy Petmantis! Your Sarracenia flowers look just amazing! I really like how the Catesbaei buds has a nice red blush to it. My Sarracenia pupurea has also flowered for the first time! At first I saw it and I thought "No way"...then I really looked at it from close up and I was so ecstatic It gave me a flower!! I will take some pictures to show everyone here because I haven't really taken any before so I shall start. And your N. Jamban looks outta this world too. So beautiful with its wide mouth! Keep up the awesome job!! They look terrific.

I am going to Humber Nurseries - either tomorrow or Saturday. Thinking of getting me some varieties of CP. I only have Drossera (typical variety) and Sarracenia Oreophila and Sarracenia Purpurea. Thanks to my saving up a little bit and not going hog-wild with other stupid purchases -___- I was able to save up some money and would like to hit some nurseries to get some. Now I have tried Sheridan in Unionville but they only have VFT, which I ended up getting two of but I would like to expand my collection. My other three CP varieties are getting lonely I'm sure and in desperate need of some companionship. And so am I!! Does anyone here know of other places where I can go this weekend to purchase some from? I have never been to Humber Nurseries so I am looking forward to that. Sheridan Nurseries seem to be carrying less and less, which is unfortunate because we have so many people that are interested in CP. And if anyone wants to spare / sell their plants and /or some CP seeds I would be more than happy to purchase from you ...and a Tim Hortons coffee / tea too...but you gotta let me know LOL....but only if you're in the GTA area Either way, let me know if any of you good folks are interested in trading seeds / plants / cuttings for some cash Have a good day All! It's a beautiful one out there today ;D

Oh I forgot: would anyone like me to pick up anything from Humber Nurseries for them? I shall be going with my work colleague who was a professor in Geology at a Toronto university - so it will be lots of fun! If so, please let me know

Hey Farya
Humber is not selling Carnivorous Plant right now later in may they will be Sarracenia Judith hindle / Sarracenia Dana's Delight ( I got two of these ) and right now there are only some crappy VFT ( the sarracenia will be healthy) and some amazing nepthens 7+ inch pitcher only for $91.84 or something like that they are expensive so I'd wait for them to stock the smaller and more cheaper ( 8.99 ) ones and that is basically it and if you know there are some bags of Sphagnum moss I can vouch for They are 9.99 WARNING there are bags labeled 10.99 if you want to save a buck then go to the bags by the cash register hope this helps you
Ray *the person who know a lot about humbers CP's

Good Morning Ray! Thanks for the update about Humber Nurseries. I will wait until the second or third week of May and then visit them. Judith Hindle's are real nice - the coloring and the variation is unbelievable. Lucky you And Dana's Delight is pretty too - almost like a veil or lace of white and pink on their caps...reminds me of the beginning of Spring. Where did you get these hybrids from? I want to check them out. If you're ever interested in selling seeds or plants, let me know. I would like to expand my itty-bitty collection, but I don't want to get the large Nepenthes just yet, although Sheridan in Unionville was selling the small variety and I bought a few from them years ago. I will still check them out though when I visit Humber in a couple / few weeks. BTW: your line in the bottom of your post is kinda cool ;D Have you worked at Humber before? Happy Friday!

Ray, I'll come knockin' at the end of summer, if I don't forget until then lol. Thanks! My sarracenia flower is getting a new rosy tint to it from the sun - I had it outside all day today and will bring it again, along with my plumerias. I am also going to repot my VFT's into bigger homes, as they're getting tight for space. Question for ya: I was about to order seeds off the web last night but waited to ask some of you Pros...you ever order via online? I am thinking of RareExoticSeeds, Best Carnivorous Plant Store and FlyTrapStore. Which is better? RareExoticSeeds is situated in Montreal so it will be quicker. BCP is in Czech Republic and FlyTrapStore is in Oregon...I am thinking in terms of quality and how fast I will get my seeds.
