Any tips on how to keep dormant Mexican ping bulbs alive? P. medusina mainly and now some heterophylla I received as bulbs. I'm averaging about a 50% success rate. I've tried the following:
i)Leave them sitting in a pure mineral media with no water at all. They seem to get smaller and smaller and then turn black and die.
ii)Keep them in a media with maybe 15% peat. Mist them every week or two. This has been most successful for me but many of the bulbs go black and rot after a few months.
iii)Leave them in the pot they hibernated in and just reduce the watering. Maybe 1 in 4 will reappear.
I'm thinking of just putting them in a clear plastic container with a lid and leaving them in there with no additional water, just the humidity in the container, until they show signs o coming back to life.
And has anyone had success in jolting them out of dormancy? I've had some medusina bulbs that I've managed to keep going for almost a year, but I'd expect them to to be coming out of dormancy after 6-8 months rest, no?
Thanks.

Thanks Lloyd. I guess I'll give that method another try and see what emerges in the spring!
