Samuel, if you grow them in an all mineral or mostly mineral media and keep them dry when they start to go dormant, you should be on the right track. This rosette continues to put out more growth. Compare that to these gypsy gems still hardening off from tc after being potted up on August 6. They're all whispering in unison... Feeeeeed usssss... dvg

Nice plants! Mine are just waking up, too. Let's hope they get some good growth before they go back to sleep!

Nice gypsi DVG, mine just died when I changed the light %?&%?&.
I think feeding this plant a lot is important before it takes it's winter form ...

Thanks guys, Nice plants! Mine are just waking up, too. Let's hope they get some good growth before they go back to sleep! Hit them hard and regularly with powdered blood worms during their active growth period and then hope for the best during dormancy. Nice gypsi DVG, mine just died when I changed the light %?&%?&. I think feeding this plant a lot is important before it takes it's winter form ... Agreed Shoggoths. And always having a few leaves pulls in reserve along with backup plants can greatly increase the odds of successfully keeping this species in cultivation. dvg

Thanks for the tip on feeding, dvg and shoggoths. This year I had 4 dormant plants. Some time in May I turned one of them into about 3 dozen pullings just to be sure. They are now growing nicely as little plantlets so I have those to fall back on.
