Manufacturers of baby food appear to be switching their production lines to plastic containers. About 30-40% of their production seems to have made the change already.
Anyone considering re-using these containers should stock up, as they soon will be gone. I've had good luck advertizing on Kijiji. The following ad has netted approx 100 jars/month:
Wanted: Baby Food Jars 4.5oz & 7.5oz Cut the cost of your baby's food! I will pay $0.15 for the large size, and $0.10 for the small ones. You don't need the entire bunch to sell to me, but those you have must be clean. I'll pick up batches of 20 or more jars in Halifax, Dartmouth, Bedford, or Sackville. I'll use the jars to propagate plants that have become endangered in the wild.
I pay, even if they offer them free, simply because I want more! If I don't use them myself, I can easily find someone else that will.

Good idea. I used to check out dollar stores to find the out-dated baby food and paid 10 cents per bottle. Often Loblaws will have sales for 30 cents a bottle. The applesauce is actually edible for adults.

I have lots of these jars and have no use for them. Too bad I am in Calgary.
