I know some of you use eBay so I'll share my recent experience. Somebody in China hacked into an email account of mine and used that to figure out my eBay password. They put obviously fake auctions on my account. eBay cancelled the auctions the same day but about $40 was sent to someone else's PayPal account. So eBay said I'm a scammer and cancelled my account forever. It's not that big a deal as I rarely use eBay anymore. However it's an annoyance to be assumed guilty. So if anybody hacks into your eBay account, you'll be suspended and held responsible for any losses. I'd advise cancelling your eBay account now before it's hacked-then you have a decent chance of erasing your financial data from their system. Now my information is on their files forever.

ahhh sorry to hear that Lloyd. I actually read about this on cpuk but figured the ebayer was just a scammer and not someone who had been hacked.

Wow - someone has to be quite an arse to do that. Too bad you can't explain to ebay or get a second chance...
Sorry.

Ah China. Well I've never used e-bay and this does not encourage me to start. Good luck Lloyd.

Another reason not to use eBay. They told PayPal that I was a scammer and now my PayPal account is gone forever along with $100.

There must be a way you can contact PayPal and get this sorted out?

www.screw-paypal.com/paypal_contact_information.html#headguysLook at this website. I had no idea there were so many problems with eBay/PayPal. I've tried everything I can think of: emails, phonecalls, etc. but nothing seems to work. I think I'm out of luck. A suggestion for everybody: never use PayPal for a business, never keep a balance on PayPal and use a unique password for both eBay and PayPal that's really long and impossible to guess. And hope someone never hacks your account.

Some interesting stuff on there.
Thats really too bad about your account and money. I try to change my passwords twice a year, but may have to do it more often.

Update: Hurray for PayPal! A guy phoned me this morning at my request. He listened to the whole boring story, checked the facts and restored my account. I quickly withdrew almost all the money to my bank account. So PayPal will listen if you are persistent. He even said they will ask eBay to reconsider my termination (eBay owns PayPal).

I'm glad to hear this.
You're surely not the first nor the last to which it will happen ... but it's good to know that with perseverance, there's a chance that the problem will be amended.

Really glad to hear that Lloyd! Hopefully you can get eBay to give you a listen too.

That is good news Lloyd. I've been following this thread and was aware of some of the shenanigans that have happened with PayPal in the past. What you have had to endure with eBay and PayPal over the last little bit certainly didn't seem fair and for them to cancel your accounts and scoop the cash in those accounts without so much as a fair hearing was bordering on criminal activity. So happy to hear that you had a chance to plead your case to PayPal and had their decision reversed and hopefully the eBay issue will also be cleared up for you as well. dvg

Glad to hear the little guy doesn't always get the short end of the stick. Even if they do reinstate your eBay account will you continue to use it?
