I have some utrics about to flower, but I have limited experience with pollinating them, I would appreciate as much advice or as many links as possible that may help with getting some seed and propagating some relatively rare species. I am especially in need of info on pollinating(self and/or cross) within section pleiochasia, and I'll be receiving a 200X USB microscope from Hong Kong soon, but until then I won't have much for magnification.

I didn't have personal experience in pollinating utric but a while ago I stumble upon this post : ocps.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=bladderwortsandbutterworts&action=display&thread=3510from Devon. There's a pics of a utric flower and some info. Perhaps Lloyd could be better at it. Also, if my memory is good, D'Amato said in his book that utric pollination is like ping pollination. The problem I can see is to find something small enough to insert in the flower throat ... perhaps an hair ? Let us know what you found.

I never had much success. It's usually so easy to propagate utrics that I've never really tried. Good luck and let us know what happens.

Thanks, I think that the microscope will make the most difference, especially for anything outside Orchidioides!
